Is Your Wardrobe Ready for Autumn?

Its time to get your wardrobe sorted for Autumn and winter

This is the first of three Posts where we are going to take a look at some fashion options from the autumn wear collections at Vida Moda for this Autumn/Winter.

Say goodbye to summer and hello to autumn!

The days are shorter, the clocks have just gone back, sunshine and blue skies are getting less frequent, and Summer (such as it was!) is becoming a distant memory.
It’s not all bad news though – saying goodbye to Summer means saying hello to Autumn. From a fashion perspective it is one of my favourite times of year. I love early autumn, where the trees are shedding their leaves and creating a crisp golden carpet underfoot. The winds pick up too and temperatures start to drop.

It’s time to wrap up warm

That means it’s time to start wrapping up warm – lovely layers, cosy cardigans, tights, boots, hats, scarves, and of course bundling up on the sofa with hot chocolate and movies!
The question is though, is your wardrobe Autumn ready? If not, don’t panic, we have a few top tips to help you get set for your most stylish Autumn yet.

Find a Coat you love.

Black Cashmere Coat by Bitte Kai Rand at Vida ModaAs much as a collection of great cardigans or a transitional jacket will get you through the first few weeks of chillier weather, by this time next month, you’ll almost definitely need a coat to wrap up in.
If you don’t already have a beloved winter coat that comes out of hibernation every year, now is the time to get one.

Look at it as an investment, a great coat may seem expensive at the time, but choose well and it will keep you warm and chic for years to come.

A single breasted black cashmere coat just screams timeless chic. It will go with everything and never go out of style. They are a great investment and will serve you well over more than one season.

Bonfire Ruffle Scarf at Vida Moda
You can throw it over work wear, wear with jeans and boots for casual chic, or on top of your best party frock to keep you warm en-route, this classic design never looks out of place. If you want to add a pop of colour, treat yourself to a bright scarf (or two!), like our bonfire ruffle scarf from our range of ruffle scarves – It’s an easy way to change up your look and re-invent your coat whenever you feel like it.

Be different and little more adventurous

If you’re looking to wrap up in something a little more adventurous, how about our Faux Shearling Gilet, marvellously chic but really practical. Easy to wear, lightweight but warm.

Heteroclite Wool Coat At Vida Moda

Looking to make a unique statement? Step back in time and channel some classic french style gloriously reminiscent of the 60′s with our beautifully warm wool coat by Heteroclite?

The combination of blue, charcoal & grey in a cape style make for a stunning design that’s quirkier than plain black, but still neutral enough to wear with everything.

Boiled Wool Jacket at Vida Moda

For days when it’s not quite so savage you could wear this sumptuous red boiled wool jacket by Q’neel, which is light but will still keep you very cosy and you’d look fabulous in it!

Brrrrr. Where’s my winter coat?

It’s been a mild winter so far but with a cold snap in our midst, it is never too late to invest in a timeless winter coat for all occasions.

Tulip Winter Coat by Bitte Kai Rand | Designer Plus Size Clothing at Vida ModaFinding a coat that will serve a few seasons means you get value for money but always look well groomed. A coat with a good cut will not only look smart but flatter all shapes and sizes, find one that enhances your best features and wonderful curves. Shorter ladies should avoid long coats, stick to a style just below your rear. Tall ladies can obviously wear longer coats but try shapes that can pull in at right places on the torso but be generous and comfortable around the hips.

The trick to keeping winter coats looking fabulous is to clean regularly according to the manufacturers instructions. Garment brushes and lint rollers are excellent to have handy in order to give your coat the once over before going out. All in all, with your coat looking so pretty and clean, you won’t want to take it off.

Classic colours such as black, grey, taupe or camel will always be in style but if you are depressed by a lack of brightness, liven up with a large, colourful, enamel broach with a motif symbolising your personality. Or you can use scarves to add colour to your coat. You can use soft scarves, long or short to great effect add an extra dash of style to your coat, plus they’ll help keep you warm!

Autumn / Winter Designer Fashion Collections at Vida Moda

Well, after some trials and tribulations we are gradually getting our collections for Autumn / Winter onto our site. We are stocking some truly beautiful clothes for you this season. We think we may have found a simply unbelievable skirt for curvy women, that looks wonderful on all shapes. It is very stylish, elegant and sexy too! but more on that later in the week in a further post!!

Bitte Kai Rand Winter Coat at Vida Moda 2011I’ve found some coats I really like, very different styles that will hopefully suit our customers varied tastes. I noticed the Sunday Times Style magazine has a coats feature today. They are “nice” (not one of my favourite words!) but as usual are being worn by a pretty twenty something.

I’m a forty something and curvy. I don’t associate myself with the young svelte models that grace the pages of the Sunday magazines. The coats featured in the Sunday Times Style Magazine appear a little ordinary to me and to be honest they aren’t cheap either. Our collections are of the finest quality and style which is reflected in the prices. I try to find and stock designer fashion suitable for 35 plus women who are curvy. You won’t find our collections scattered through chain stores on the High Street.

So I was pleased to be somewhat underwhelmed by the coats presented by the Sunday Times Style Magazine today. I think the coats and jackets I’ve selected for this season are special and we have one or two winter coats that certainly make a statement! All of them are displayed in our online store and are modeled by a size 16 model who is in her forties. Who says we can’t look great after forty when we’ve gone up a size or two? Don’t we deserve to have a choice of designer fashion suited to us?

Take a look at our coats and jackets for this Autumn and Winter, I hope you like them. Let me know what you think by adding a comment here.
