Go glow! Complete your look with spectacular skin

The secret to a great look is healthy looking skin. Winter is a cruel season, icy winds, central heating and fatty comfort food. Spring is round the corner, so here’s some tips to kick the winter look and bounce into a better season.

  1. Drink plenty of water. You should aim for between 1-2 ltrs a day. Marks & Spencer sell a great 1lt sports bottle. Treat yourself to one and refill at least once a day, which will save you from trying to remember how much you’ve been drinking.
  2. Cut back on toxins. Moderate the coffee and alcohol. Can you have your obligatory ‘wake-me-up’ coffee in the morning then switch to caffeine-free tea in the afternoon? Can you drink your favourite tipple with soda, or alternative with a glass of water?
  3. Take your make-up off. I know. We’ve come home after a night out, fallen asleep as soon as our head hits the pillow and wake up with panda eyes. Once every now and again isn’t going to hurt but if you don’t cleanse daily before bed, it may be why your skin is looking a little worn out than usual.
  4. Exercise. Let’s be realistic, we can’t all be gym bunnies. But working up a sweat is a great way to get the heart rate going and blood pumping round your veins (therefore getting your skin glowing).
  5. Moisturise. You don’t have to invest a fortune to plump up your skin but look for a product with natural ingredients. If you’re following steps 1-3, then you may find once before make-up in the morning and after you have removed make-up before bed is adequate to moisturise.
  6. Cut back on foundation. Do you really need to wear foundation every day? If you’re sticking to a good cleansing routine, it’s possible you only need a good cover-up for blemishes, redness and dark circles then a tinted moisturiser.
  7. Smile. How corny! But it’s true. A genuine smiley face emulates a glow of its own.
